Students shine at SAPSASA football carnival

The Limestone Coast was on show at the recent SAPSASA football Carnival held in Adelaide last week for schools all over the state.
Two boys and girls sides were on display representing the lower and upper South East.
The Lower South East boys finished fifth overall in Division 1 having won five of their nine games.
The Lower South East girls also competed in Division 1, winning four games to finish seventh overall.
The Mid South East boys they had two wins and a draw, finishing eighth overall in Division 1.
However, the highlight of the carnival was the Mid South East girls performance with eight wins and a draw to secure overall honours.
Mid SE Lower SE SAPSASA Convenor Tony O’Connell said credit goes to all that competed in the competition.
‘’The girls had a lot of fun, had a great time and have come a long way from the first training two months ago,” he said.
O’Connell also spoke about the upcoming potential coming from the school system, with the move of the Year 7 level to secondary school and giving the younger students additional opportunities.
“It was also good to see some of year 5 level come out and have ago and held their own on many occasions,” he said.
O’Connell was also hopeful that next year more students participate to not only play football but gain the social experience and get out to the Crows Cup which is another pathway for future sporting development.
“There is a great number of kids coming and trying out new sports through the system and positive things happening around sports,” he said.
