Surgery resumes

Elective surgery resumed at Mount Gambier and other regional hospitals on Friday after operating theatres were closed for a week.

A state-wide internal emergency was called on May 30 due to many staff being sick with COVID.

SA Health chief executive Dr Robyn Lawrence called a Code Yellow, opened all available beds and paused almost all elective surgeries in metropolitan and regional public hospitals

The SE Voice asked the SA Health media unit to state the number of Mount Gambier patients who were affected by the postponement of elective surgeries but this information was not supplied.
