Blue Lake Y Swim Club athletes Haydn Lowe and Darcy Hodges performed swimmingly at the recent SA State Age Long Course Championships at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide.
Competitors aged 11-17 years old competed in qualifying events at the championships with the top eight contestants earning a spot in the finals.
Hodges returned home with eight medals including four gold, two silver and two bronze in her inaugural year.
The 11-year-old won gold in the 50-metre backstroke, 100-metre backstroke, 50-metre breaststroke and 100-metre breaststroke.
She claimed silver in the 50-metre freestyle and individual medley (a mix of all four strokes in one race) as well as bronze in the 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre freestyle.
Hodges also made a splash in the 200-metre freestyle placing fifth with a personal best of 15.27 seconds.
The young gun currently holds the SA Country Championship record for 11 years and under 50-metre and 100-metre breaststroke and the SA Long Course female country breaststroke record 11 years and under for the same.
She will be attending the swimming SAPASA State Championships in May and then go on to the National School Sports Championships in Sydney in August.
Meanwhile Lowe qualified for nine events, made four finals and was reserve in another two finals.
The 15-year-old recorded two personal bests in the 100-metre breaststroke final of 6.38 seconds earning fourth place and the 100-metre backstroke with a time of 2.18 seconds and an eighth placing.
Lowe also recorded eighth place in his 50m butterfly final and ninth place in his 100-metre backstroke final.
He is aiming to compete in the SA State Age Short Course Championships in July.
The Blue Lake Y Swim Club competitiors also took home some more bling at the sixth South Eastern Swimming Australia (SESA) meet which encompasses Mount Gambier, Penola and Keith.
Over the seven SESA meets there are championship races with differing strokes in which points are awarded to first, second and third.
The points are collated at the end of the season and the winners announced.
Stella Jones, Davyd Davyduik, Darcy McDonald and Lowe won first place in the championships while Keira Flowers placed second.
SESA grade each swimmer according to their time and not their age which means there are also graded medals.
Davydiuk, Lowe and MacDonald all earned first in the graded medals while Jones, Flowers, Bailey Pratt, Jacob Rosenthal and Maggie Hodges placed second.
