Afresh probe into the possibility of a super-size water slide at the Millicent swimming lake has been undertaken by Wattle Range Council staff.
The last such investigation was undertaken around 20 years by a community group and the costs were found to be prohibitive.
A similar conclusion has been reached by the latest examination.
“Investigations started into the possibility of a large water slide at this site, however the logistics required for supervision and cleaning appear to be significant and beyond the available resourcing of Wattle Range Council,” stated the staff report.
“However, planning is under way for proposed upgrades at the Millicent swimming lake, including the installation of new family friendly all abilities changerooms on the Rendelsham Road side, new shade and improved fencing around the deep end.
“A playground upgrade is also currently being considered. Roofing works and asbestos removal from the existing changerooms is due to start this month and council officers are working closely with the owners of the Lakeside Café to minimise disruptions.”
