Tahara takes out Tarrington in C Grade battle

THE TWELFTH MAN

HDCA – C Grade

TAHARA has defeated Tarrington by six wickets at Tarrington Recreation Reserve and maintained its hold on the third rung of the ladder in the Hamilton and District Cricket Association C Grade competition.

After winning the toss and sending the Tigers into bat, the Blue Caps had three very quick wickets in their keeping as Jack Goodman and Alexander McAdam tore through the Tarrington top order.

Wickets fell in clumps for the Tarrington team as the Tahara bowlers maintained their discipline with the ball in hand, but the Tigers still managed to post 9-143 from their allotted overs as the lower order put a high price on their wickets.

After the tea break, Tahara lost its first four wickets for only 50 runs and the Tigers gained control of the game but Tahara skipper Jayden Dark (35-not-out) and Jack Goodman (56-not-out) added an undefeated partnership of 90 runs for the fifth wicket to claim the points with seven overs in hand.

In other games …

BRANXHOLME (4-138) remained in fourth place despite losing to Macarthur (3-140) at Macarthur Recreation Reserve as the Demons easily chased down the target thanks to an undefeated 104 from Matt Timms.

Byaduk (3-167) chased down Hamilton North (8-164) with four overs in hand as the Ducks’ top order all batted well.

St Andrews (137) was easily defeated by College (8-221) thanks to a stunning performance from Kane Uebergang (95 and 5-9) and Ned Hintum (50-not-out) who dominated the Drews at KFC Oval.
