Teachers’ union secretary resigns

The South Australian teachers’ union branch secretary has resigned, following accusations she stole from a Mount Gambier business.

Early last week the Mount Gambier clothing store posted a video of former Mount Gambier teacher Leah York allegedly stealing items from the Commercial Street store.

Ms York had been visiting Mount Gambier for union business at the time of the incident.

Following the incident being made public, Ms York resigned from her position on the board of state government investment agency Funds SA.

This was followed on Thursday by the Australian Education Union (AEU) releasing a statement saying Ms York would step down from her position, effective immediately.
