Friday night baseball made a return to Blue Lake sports park on last week with Centrals taking on an inform South Indians.
Centrals drew first blood in the game with a run crossing home plate in the first innings.
The second inning followed the same suit when Centrals again scored a run making it a two run lead after two bats.
The game was slowly getting away from South as Centrals crossed two more in the third making it a four run lead.
South found another gear and bought home three runs to make it game.
After five innings it was all tied up after South bought another two runs home and the crowd were now witnessing a great game.
A pitching change seen Ethan Chuck replaced by his number one cousin Dylan Chuck and it was a move that did not favour the Indians.
The runs dried up much like the Sahara Desert.
Dylan Chuck kept the Indians run-less while the boys in Black and White piled on six over the last three innings to make it an eleven to five ball game.
Big performance came from Kylle McLean, Dylan Chuck and Nathan Meinck with three hits apiece, while for South it was Damien O’Dine who returned with a bang for the Indians with two hits and club champion Dean Hamilton pitched well on the mound.
After plenty of runs were dished up, Centrals emerged on top 11-6.
Saturday afternoon saw Millicent/Federals travel to Mount Gambier to take on a Tigers outfit looking to bounce back to form.
A bumper crowd led by David Chant in full voice saw Tigers start slowly and they appeared flat and Millicent took full advantage of some sloppy fielding and Millicent struck first and Tigers needed a spark and fast.
Ellis Cushion started his first Division one game for the Millicent/Federals team and he looked comfortable and in control.
A pitching duel was taking place and after the fourth innings it was still the Bandits by a single margin.
Tigers found their mojo in the fifth and scored a quick-fire three run innings and took the lead back.
It did not stop there for Tigers they again scored three in the sixth and the lead was suddenly five and Tigers looked in control.
Young-gun Ellis Cushion was replaced by Jack Hateley in the seventh and Tigers appeared to enjoy this knocking in four more runs to take the game to a nine run margin and showing some real fight and class with the bat.
Tigers continued to hold Millicent and managed to get one more run to see Tigers lead reach 10 runs and plate umpire Meinck call “game”.
Big performers for the game for Tigers were Tyler Horrigan with two hits and four RBI’s, while Hayden Jones and Brayden Morton chalked up two hits also.
For Millicent/Federals it was Roy Hutchinnson, Craig Chittelborough and Ellis Cushion who lead from the front.
