Tenison Woods College recently held its annual exchange with Cardijn College.
Established in 1987, the exchange was established by the respective sports coordinators Dr Paul Rijken and Robert Doyle and rotates between colleges each year.
The three-day exchange showcased a squad of over 100 students from both colleges, with students from years 8-11 competing in a range of sports, and as the exchange has evolved over the years, it also includes debating.
Fundamentally, the exchange is a unique opportunity that fosters a genuine spirit of sportsmanship, friendship and excellence.
There were some standout performances across the two days, with the whole event available via live stream with thanks to Marcus Jones and the team at VideoLive, allowing parents from Cardijn College as well as local families to see the action.
Tenison Woods College Year 9 Sports Journalism students were given a very rare opportunity to get a hands-on experience in filming the live stream.
Mr Jones donated his time and expertise in coaching these students, showing them the finer details of filming sport, how to use the cameras, as well as being a part of the production process.
Teacher Scott Dickson supported the students throughout the process, fostering student agency and allowing them to get a real taste of sports broadcasting.
Students were also given an opportunity to commentate on and photograph the action.
From mixed touch football through to debating, both schools fought hard to win.
The Tenison Woods College squad showcased athleticism and sportsmanship throughout the exchange to the highest standard and defeated their competition in every event, winning the exchange 10-1.
