Tigers set sights on top two finish

North Gambier v South Gambier

South Gambier will head to Vansittart Park to take on North Gambier on Saturday, having so far tied the season one win a piece.

The Tigers should be confident heading into this contest as they claimed the win in their last outing.

However the Dees did come away with the victory back in Round 2 which should give them belief they can do it again.

After a weekend off due to the SA Country Championships, both sides should be refreshed and ready to play with the exception of South ruckman Mason Hein who represented the South East at the event.

Like their other two meetings, this game should be highly competitive as the Dees look to keep their second place spot with the Roos right on their tail, whereas a win for the Tigers could help them move up the ladder into second position .

East Gambier v Casterton Sandford

The Cats will travel to the Mount on Saturday to face the Doggies at the Kennel.

Casterton has defeated East in both meetings this season, with the first game being quite close and the second a complete blow out.

Both sides are coming off huge losses last round and will be refreshed after last weekend’s bye.

Although the Doggies have not secured a victory yet in 2024, they have been improving every week and have been getting really close over the past few outings.

Last round the Doggies gave it to the Dees for three quarters but ran out of gas in the final term.

They have shown flashes of great play during the season but have struggled to put it all together.

The Cats are similar, where they play competitive football for most of the game but have struggled to close it out.

Their victories this season have come from East twice and their big win over South.

In that game they played well for all four quarters and they will be looking to play like that in this game.

Overall this will definitely be a game in which the Doggies will have high hopes in claiming the four points.

Millicent v West Gambier

The Roos will travel to Millicent on Saturday to face the Saints, with the hosts having taken care of West fairly easily in both contests this season and they will be looking to continue that run with this game.

Both sides are coming off big wins in the last round, so they will both be confident going into this contest.

The Roos should be a bit more rested than the Saints as Millicent had five players compete for the South East in the country championships last weekend.

It will be interesting to see how much this will affect the game.

As this game is being played in Millicent the Saints have made McLaughlin Park a fortress this season as they are undefeated at home, so the odds will be heavily against the West Gambier in this one.

If the Roos lose this game it could damage their chances of finishing in the top two as they sit third with tied points with second place South Gambier so this is a must win game for West.
