Titan set to return

The Castec Rural Pioneers are thrilled to secure the services of American big man Titus Robinson for his fourth season as a Pioneer.

The 207cm power forward, who hails from North Carolina in the United States, has had three stints with the Pioneers dating back more than a decade when he commenced his professional career as a Pioneer before embarking on a successful career throughout the world.

Robinson first arrived in Mount Gambier in 2013, before spending some time abroad and returned to the Pioneers for the 2021 NBL1 South season which was later abandoned due to interstate COVID border closures.

He then returned to Mount Gambier part way through the 2022 season and has since made the Blue Lake city his home with wife Janelle.

Across 45 NBL1 games for the Pioneers, Robinson has become a crowd favourite of the club’s loyal supporters and fans for his tireless work at both ends of the court.

In 2024 he averaged 70.78 points per game with 4.43 rebounds.

Robinson said he was excited to be back with the Pioneers family for 2025.

“Last year was a good season but did not end the way we wanted it to,” he said.

“I am looking forward to this year to grow as a group and get back to the championship pedigree the club is used to.”

Head Coach Richard Hill said he was delighted that Robinson will once more suit up as a Pioneer.

“Who could have imagined when Titus joined us from college (in the US) in 2013 that he would become a local in 2024,” he said.

“A tremendous competitor and athlete Titus has had a great pro career. His commitment to the game is second to none.

“Seeing Titus looking fit and strong on court gives me confidence that we will see his absolute best in 2025.”

The NBL1 South season will commence in late March.

Several pre-season tournaments and games will be announced in coming weeks and will be played throughout the Limestone Coast and Victoria.

The Pioneers will also participate in the NBL1 South Blitz at Melbourne’s State Basketball Centre over the weekend of March 15 and 16.
