The Ian Gould Interhouse Athletics Carnival at Mount Gambier High School was a day of thrilling competition and spectacular performances, with perfect weather providing the ideal backdrop for the event.
Once again, Tower claimed victory, securing their fifth consecutive title in what was one of the closest finishes in recent years, with just 55 points separating first and second place.
Building on their successes from 2021 through to 2024, Tower extended their winning streak in 2025 with a strong all-round performance both on the track and in the field.
A highlight of the day was the ever-popular novelty events, which saw enthusiastic participation from students across all year levels.

Adding an extra element of fun, the B.A.T Dance Battle injected energy into the carnival, with students cheering on their houses during both the dance-off and the athletic events.
A standout moment came when Jaden Moo was awarded the Craig Elliott Perpetual Award for the Most Outstanding Individual Performance of the Carnival. Jaden’s blistering 12.80-second finish in the 13 Years Boys’ 100m was just 0.02 seconds shy of the record, a remarkable achievement that earned him the prestigious honour.
Several students also etched their names into the Mount Gambier High School record books with exceptional performances, further highlighting the day’s success.
With the Interhouse Carnival wrapped up, attention now turns to the A2 SSSA Athletics Carnival in Adelaide, where MGHS students will represent the school on a broader stage.
Reflecting on the day, staff praised the incredible sportsmanship, encouragement, and energy displayed by students.
“We had plenty of great competition and rivalry, but the support, behaviour and positive energy students displayed is exactly aligned with what MGHS stands for.
“These types of whole school events are a fantastic opportunity to see students in a setting outside the classroom, but it is just as valuable for students to see their teachers out of the classroom too.”
