The latest round of the long-running golf challenge involving the Blackwood, Loxton and Millicent golf clubs was decided in honour of the South East club on Sunday.
The Tri-Challenge event has been running for over 30 years and it rotates around the three clubs on the holiday long weekends of March, June and October.
A total of 66 players took to the magnificently prepared Mount Burr Golf Course and played a Stableford Competition.
There were 38 Millicent members, 18 visitors from Blackwood and 10 from Loxton.
The best score of the day was returned by Millicent’s Giovina Burgman with 42 points and the equivalent prize for the men was awarded to Geoff Cameron with 37 points.
Millicent’s winning team of 10 players were Giovina Burgman 42, Bec Shanks 39, Geoff Cameron 37, Andy Fisher 35, Kathy Webber 35, Jamie Muhovics 35, Mark Pretty 35, Scott Lonergan 34, Craig Kuiper 34 and Debbie Tincknell 34.
After two rounds, Bec Shanks currently has a lead of five points for the Individual event.
Nearest to Pins – men 0-19 Handicap on the 13th was Loxton’s Dave Sunman, women 0-29 Handicap on the 3rd was Blackwood’s Marilyn Marsh and women’s 2nd Shot to the 17th was Leanne Shearer from Loxton – the 5th green was not hit by the men with 20-45 handicap.
Birdies on the par 3 holes were recorded by Mark Pilmore on the 3rd, Ben Young on the 5th, Noah Lang, Doug Lang, Debbie Tincknell and Jill Sommerlad (Blackwood), all on the 17th.
Prizes generously supplied by DiGiorgio Family wines were awarded to all the winners.
After the two rounds at Loxton and Millicent, Millicent have a total of 714 points, Blackwood 662 and Loxton 631.
The third and final round will be held at Blackwood in March 2025.
