Divison 1 – Uniting v Mt Schank/Mil Lel/Mt Gambier
Uniting hosted the combined side of Mount Schank, Mil Lel and Mount Gambier on Saturday at Corriedale Park, with Uniting coming away with a big win.
Uniting dominated the doubles in the men’s side of the draw, winning both matches.
In the top doubles, Uniting’s Andrew van den Hurk and Jace Maxwell took on Mount Schank’s Will Boston and Alex Laube.
The Uniting pair took the first set with ease in a 6-1 effort. In the second set Boston and Laube showed a bit more fight, taking two games but ultimately losing the set and match 6-2.
In the bottom doubles Mount Schank’s Brendan McInnes and Jack Meyer faced Uniting’s Mat Stark and Kobe Cole.
Cole and Stark were too much for McInnes and Meyer, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
In the singles the Uniting men carried over their momentum from the doubles, taking all four sets.
In the top singles van den Hurk took on Boston and got back on the winners list, defeating Boston 6-0.
In the number two singles Laube took on Stark. Stark was too much for Laube, only claiming one game and falling 6-1.
In the bottom singles Maxwell and Cole were at their best with Maxwell getting the better of McInnes 6-2 and Cole picking up the set over Meyers 6-1.
On the ladies side Uniting were similar to the men, taking all three sets over the Mil Lel women.
In the top doubles, Uniting’s Ashlea Dunn and Jade Delaney took on Mil Lel’s Jorja and Jess Douglas.
The Douglas sisters were able to claim two games in the match but ultimately were no match for Dunn and Delaney, falling 6-2.
In the next doubles Dunn partnered up with Vanessa Maxwell to take on Jorja Douglas and Kelsey Boneham. Dunn and Maxwell’s experience overpowered Douglas and Boneham as they fell 6-0.
In the bottom doubles Delaney and Maxwell faced Jess Douglas and Boneham. Delaney and Maxwell came away with another set, winning 6-0.
In the ladies singles Douglas put up a good fight against Delaney but could not come away with the set, falling to Delaney 6-3.
In the two other singles, Uniting came away with the sets with ease, Maxwell defeated Douglas 6-0 while Zarah Thami won her only set for the day, beating Boneham 6-0.
Uniting defeated Mount Schank/Mil Lel/Mount Gambier – 12-0.
Reidy Park v Glencoe
Reidy Park took on Glencoe on Saturday at Olympic Sports Park with Reidy scraping by with a thrilling win.
The Glencoe men dominated in the doubles, taking both sets.
In the top doubles Glencoe’s Dylan Childs and Patrick Mitchell took on Reidy’s Ben Gaffney and Will Cameron. Childs and Mitchell dominated in this match, claiming the win in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
In the bottom doubles Glencoe’s James Braun and Will Maloney took on Reidy’s Harry Ellis and J Otter. Braun and Maloney got the edge early on, taking the first set in a tiebreaker.
Ellis and Otter had a strong response in the second set, tying the game up with a 6-0 win in the set. In the third super tiebreaker set Braun and Maloney were able to edge out the victory, winning 11-9 in the tiebreaker.
Glencoe continued to pick up sets in the singles, winning three out of the four matches.
In the top singles, Childs faced Gaffney and stormed home with a win, taking the match 6-1.
Ellis was able to do slightly better in his match against Mitchell but still fell short 6-2.
Cameron was able to pick up Reidy’s only set in the singles, defeating Braun 6-0.
In the bottom singles Maloney finished strong with a solid 6-4 win over Otter.
In the ladies draw it was fairly even in the doubles with Reidy taking two sets.
In the top doubles Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Giaan Ferguson took on Reidy’s Bailey Young and Maggie Collins. Both pairs took it down to the wire with Young and Collins coming out on top in a 7-5 win.
In the next doubles match Reidy’s Young and Sarah Brown took on Edwards and Shae Delaney. Edwards and Delaney were able to get a set on the board for Glencoe, winning the match 6-2.
In the bottom doubles Collins and Brown finished strong with a big 6-0 win over Ferguson and Delaney.
In the singles Reidy finished strong with some solid win across the board.
In the top singles Young faced off against Edwards. Edwards fought hard but could not come out on top, losing 6-3 to Young.
Collins came out on top against Ferguson, picking up another set 6-1.
In the bottom singles Brown finished strong with a 6-2 win over Delaney.
At the end of the day both sides were tied six apiece with Reidy edging out the win with 60 games to Glencoe’s 54.
Division 2
In division 2 West Gambier Blue took on Mount Gambier at West Gambier.
Gambier came out on top with an 8-4 win.
West Gambier Red hosted Suttontown/Glencoe with Suttontown/Glencoe coming away with the win 9-3.
Division 3
In division 3 Uniting took on Suttontown at Corriedale Park. Suttontown bounced back from last week with a 7-5 win over United.
Mil Lel hosted Centrals/Mount Schank but could not come up with the win. Centrals/Mount Schank picked up another win with a 9-3 victory over Mil Lel.
Mixed Doubles
In the mixed doubles comp Suttontown took on Moorak Green with Suttontown coming out on top 5-1 while Uniting/Glencoe got the win over Moorak Gray 5-1.
Mount Gambier Green took on Mount Schank with Gambier Green winning 4-2 with Glencoe having a big win over Mount Gambier Blue 6-0.
Ladies Doubles
In the ladies doubles there were big wins across the weekend with West Gambier defeating Mil Lel White 6-0, while Reidy Park got the 6-0 win over Mil Lel Green.
Glencoe had a big win over Mount Schank, winning 6-0.
