Veterans head back out on course

Astrong field of 69 players fronted up at the Kingston course for the first game of South East Veterans after the Christmas break.

The weather was perfect for golf and the course was in great nick.

Predictably the seasiders scored well with Gordie Fleming taking out Division one with 38 points.

It was a tight finish with Tony Bishop and Lyndon Cox both scoring 37 points to tie for second.

Arthur Niejalke also compiled 38 points after a lean run of late to take out second division from Rob Chalmers and Pat Ryan who could only manage 33.

There were plenty of medium scores and the ball rundown was to 30.

The nearest the pins were Kym Sandford and Glen Tilley, while a battle was fought for the Ross Orchard trophy and it eventually went to Beachport’s Chris Carr and Attamurra’s Dennis Smith.

Brian Duldig snaffled the Scotch with some glee.

The season will close with three games down south with the first at Attamurra on Monday, January 31.
