Veterans tee off at Kingston

On a perfect winter day with no wind and all sun 53 SE Veterans golfers hit the course at Kingston.

The course was in perfect condition with plenty of run and good greens.

Seaside members dominated the winners circle in both divisions, with Kingston’s Bruce Stillwell taking out division one with the day’s best score of 40 points, from fellow local Col Wright on 36, and the very consistent Gordie Fleming from Robe with 34.

Division two went to the Kingston scribe John Higgins with 36, from two Robe players with 34, Peter Tobin and Wayne “Wombat” Peters.

The Ross Orchard trophy went to Robe’s Kym St John and Mount Gambier’s Bob Tonkin.

Bob also got a nearest the pin on the 15th and Kingston’s Pat Ryan on the 4th.

The ball rundown was to 28 or better, and the Scotch went home with “Tank” Thompson.

The group next visits Lucindale on July 1, followed by Millicent on July 15.
