Vietnam veterans commemoration approval sought

Vietnam War veterans are set to be honoured at Robe.

The local sub-branch of the RSL would like to place a commemorative seat on Victoria Street and outside its premises.

There is currently a council seat to the right of the entry gate and the Robe RSL would like to place a seat to the left of the gate.

Robe RSL secretary Marcia Dening has written to the Robe District Council and said her council would like to meet the purchase and installation costs of the seat as well as a small bronze plaque and appropriate signage.

“There are several seats throughout the township which have previously been purchased by families or individuals with a small dedication plaque,” Ms Dening said.

“We have funding available and would like … to proceed as soon as possible.”
