Mount Gambier will host a special photographic exhibition this weekend.
The RSL – A Time To Celebrate is a DVA funded program to capture and showcase the oral histories and images of veterans, war widows and partners.
The oral histories have been documented and published online to acknowledge and commemorate the sacrifices and achievements of the men and women who have given greatly to the citizens of this country.
The podcasts can be downloaded via www.thewaywewere.podbean.com and listened to at your own speed. To date there has been over 1200 downloads from the program from all corners of the globe.
Stories captured to date range from WWII to present day and feature detailed accounts of challenging experiences, emotions, humorous situations, comradery, cultural diversity, history and heritage and a personal recall of times past.
The photographic exhibition featured in this year’s SALA Festival at Ayers House in Adelaide and has since exhibited at Tanunda Soldiers Memorial Hall, Port Pirie Military Museum and Waikerie RSL.
This weekend the exhibition will be on display at the Mount Gambier Community RSL from 11am-3pm, with free admission.
Facilitator Christian Teusner will be present to share information regarding the program, which is in partnership with the Tanunda RSL Sub Branch.
