Wattle Range Council report scrutiny delayed

Wattle Range Council has been unable to endorse its latest quarterly financial review owing to a technical hitch.

The agenda for its October monthly meeting listed scrutiny of its income and an expenditure from July 1 until September 30 as an item of business.

However, Councillor David Walshaw said such a matter was out of order because the paperwork had yet to be presented to the Audit and Risk Committee for its consideration.

Cr Walshaw sits on this committee along with Cr John Drew who endorsed his remarks.

Council chief executive Ben Gower said a staff member had not scheduled an Audit and Risk Committee meeting prior to taking leave.

As a result, Mr Gower said it may be necessary for him to call a special council meeting to ensure all its financial scrutiny obligations can be met.
