Mount Gambier will join the nation in observing Remembrance Day with a service taking place this Friday at 10.30am at the Vansittart Park Soldiers Memorial.

Local school groups, organisations and individuals will lay wreaths at the ceremony to pay their respects.

RSL Mount Gambier President Bob Sandow said a student from Mount Gambier High School will recite The Ode.

“This is the first time Mount Gambier High School has been involved,” he said.

“It’s time we hand some of these duties on to younger people.

“On Friday following the main service, there will be a ceremony at Tenison Woods College remembering the three Tenison flyers who flew for our country, and all died in the line of duty.”
