Saturday’s poor weather conditions resulted in a limited number of games completed in round 7 of the Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association.
Most grades were impacted, prompting many matches to be declared wash outs with the sides sharing most of the points.
Division 1 – Glencoe v Mount Schank/Mil Lel/Mount Gambier
In Glencoe the home side and the combined team were able to get a few matches completed before the weather stopped play.
Both men’s doubles completed their matches with the two sides taking a set each.
In the top doubles Glencoe’s Dylan Childs and Patrick Mitchell continued their fine form as they defeated Mount Schank’s Will Boston and Alex Laube 6-0, 6-0.
In the bottom doubles it was much more competitive as Glencoe’s James Braun and Will Maloney faced Mount Schank’s Brendan McInnes and Mount Gambier’s Will Le Cornu.
The first set went to the Glencoe boys as they took it 6-4.
In the second set McInnes and Le Cornu bounced back to tie it up, winning 6-2.
In the super tiebreaker it came to the wire as McInnes and Le Cornu sealed the comeback win, 10-7.
In the men’s singles matches both Childs and Mitchell were victorious, winning 6-0.
On the ladies side they played one doubles and a singles with Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Montana Biggins facing Mil Lel’s Jorja Douglas and Kelsey Boneham.
Edwards and Biggins took the set, winning 6-1.
In the singles, Glencoe’s Jenna Paproth took on Mil Lel’s Jess Douglas and won 6-4.
West Gambier v Reidy Park
At West only one game was completed with West Gambier’s Emily Jolley and Jo Sealey taking on Reidy’s Maggie Collins and Sarah Brown. Jolley and Sealey took the set 6-2.
Division 2
In division 2 Mount Gambier took on West Gambier Red at Gambier.
The two sides were able to get through most of their games with Gambier taking eight sets while West Red only picked up two.
Suttontown/Glencoe hosted West Gambier Blue in Suttontown with only one match being completed with the visitors taking the set.
Division 3
In division 3 both matches got through most of the games on Saturday.
Uniting took on Suttontown at Corriedale Park. Uniting won six sets while Suttontown only claimed one.
At Olympic Park Centrals/Mount Schank took on Mount Gambier with Gambier taking six sets while the combined side won five.
Ladies Doubles
In ladies doubles all three matches were completed.
West Gambier hosted Glencoe with West getting four sets to Glencoe’s two.
Mil Lel White took on Reidy Park in Mil Lel with Reidy Park claiming all six sets.
Mount Schank hosted Mil Lel Green with Mount Schank winning four sets while Mil Lel Green took two.
Mixed Doubles
In mixed doubles there was a close match between Suttontown and Mount Gambier Green as Suttontown got the win, beating Gambier by one game.
The two Moorak sides faced off in Moorak with Moorak Gray coming away with the win in a thriller, victorious by one game.
Glencoe and Mount Schank only got a few matches finalised, with Glencoe winning three sets while Mount Schank one.
Mount Gambier Blue hosted Uniting/Glencoe with the combined side winning 6-0.
