The 2024 Limestone Coast Regional Wellbeing Expo on Friday has been hailed a success with more than 400 people passing through the doors of the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.
Funded by Preventative Health SA and hosted by the Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network, there were information stalls manned by 26 different services available in the local area to support wellbeing.
The day was officially declared open by Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll who also chairs the WRSPN and an inspirational Welcome to Country was delivered by Tim Brennan.
The keynote speaker was Bel Ryan and she also staged a creative workshop.
The Skylight Photography and Art Exhibition was held in the foyer and it attracted much attention.
Millicent performer Jack Lane played background music with his guitar.
Free food was provided by the New Heaven Indian Restaurant or the xHappi Belli Restaurant while complementary coffee came from the Cooney van.
As part of the regional wellbeing expo, a free hour-long yoga session was staged nearby in the Millicent RSL War Memorial Hall.
All 15 available places were taken by one man and 14 women.
The sole male yoga session participant was a reporter from The SE Voice.
One of the information booths was ‘coffee with a cop’ and it was manned by three uniformed officers headed by Limestone Coast police superintendent Cheryl Jones.
WRSPN deputy chairman Rick Errington said his group appreciated the personal backing of Superintendent Cheryl Jones.
“Overall, the expo was a huge success,” Mr Errington said.
“There were some engaging outcomes between the exhibitors and the public.
“There were also some growing connections among the stall holders as well and working relationships were supported.”
The 2025 regional well-being expo is set to be hosted by the Naracoorte SPN with Mount Gambier SPN taking charge of hosing duties in 2026.
