Wells waters way to rose gold win

More than 100 roses were in the running for a $500 prize for the Most Outstanding Rose in this weekend’s Millicent Show.

It was the 11th consecutive year that McCourt’s Garden Centre proprietor Christine Agnew, of Millicent, has made a $500 voucher available to the winner.

The winner for the first time was Jackie Wells of Mount Burr and the champion rose had hot pink colouring which must have won over the judge.

In the children’s section, the champion rose was exhibited for the second consecutive year by Isla Carpenter, of Mount Gambier.
