Mundulla v Nangwarry
Mundulla will take on Nangwarry this Sunday in round two of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League in Mundulla.
Both sides played last week with the two clubs having very different results.
The Tigers came away with a 64 point win over Millicent while Nangwarry struggled in their first game, going down by 145 points to Penola.
Last week the Tigers played well in the first half but slowed down in the second, as they only kicked two goals compared to the seven they booted in the first half.
Mundulla will be looking to fix up the areas they struggled in from that second half.
Nangwarry on the other hand really struggled in round one, going scoreless for the game.
After a disappointing first week the Saints will be looking to improve on their performance, whereas the Tigers will look to build off the success they had from last week.
I believe the Tigers will take care of business in this game and come out on top.
North Gambier v South Gambier
North Gambier is set to play their first game of the season on Sunday as they face South Gambier at Kongorong.
The Dees struggled a bit in the opening round, losing to Casterton Sandford by 82 points but still took a lot of positives out of the contest.
South played well in the fourth quarter where they held the Cats to only a minor score while kicking a goal as well.
After a solid fourth quarter performance the Dees will be looking to keep that same energy going into this game, while the Tigers will enter the contest fresh and ready to go after having the bye.
This can bring positives and negatives as they could be a bit rusty early on but on the other hand they will also be full of energy and ready to go.
I predict it will be competitive early on but I think the Tigers will pull away with the victory in the second half.
Kybybolite v Millicent
Kybybolite will take on Millicent this Sunday at the Mundulla Showgrounds.
Kyby are coming off a hard fought game against Kongorong where they got the win despite their rough goal kicking.
The Saints are coming off a tough loss to Mundulla last week where they did not score.
In this game hopefully the weather conditions are better as the Tigers struggled a bit in the wind at Penola.
Despite not kicking that well the Tigers still had a firm grip on the game and did not give the Hawks too many chances to get into the contest.
They will be looking to have the command on the game this week as they face an opponent similar to Kongorong.
Although the Saints had a tough loss last week they had flashes of things to be pleased about.
They were a bit rusty in the first half of last week’s game but got themselves together in the second half where they held Mundulla to only two goals.
The Saints just need to work on getting the ball inside 50 and giving themselves more chances to put some scoreboard pressure on their opposition.
I predict that Kyby will come out on top but if they play like they did last week then it may be more of an interesting game, especially if Millicent can put some points on the board.
Kongorong v Casterton Sandford
Casterton Sandford will take on Kongorong on Sunday in Kongorong.
Despite last week’s result the Hawks played quite well and were very competitive against Kyby.
Like a few other teams they struggled to get the ball inside 50 and make shots at goal.
Casterton on the other hand played great football for three quarters but slowed down a bit in the fourth, only scoring one point to end the game.
Despite the poor ending they still dominated for most of the game and are looking like a top four team early on.
I believe the Cats should come away with a win in this game, but I doubt it will be easy for them if the Hawks continue to improve from their round one performance.
