Young leaders tackle big environmental issue

Five students from Mary Mackillop Memorial school guided by the Year 4/5 teacher, Miss Lusty, have been working on an environmental program known as YELP.

The acronym YELP means, Youth Environmental Leaders Program. In this year’s project we have been working on reducing world pollution.

These lucky students Emma Stokes, Emma Gosse, Holly Flint, Trinity Deland and myself Chloe Neale, have been selected to be a part of this program.

One of our environmental projects this year is to put a soft plastic bin in the school yard for the students to use, so there is less rubbish going into landfill and more into recycling.

This will be our last term in YELP for this year and we will be putting all our work onto a large poster to show our learning.

It is not just our school who is working on this program it is also other schools across SA.

We really hope we inspire you all to come up with your own idea to reduce world pollution.
