Young star commits to Pioneers

The OneFortyOne Pioneers have received another piece of confidence-building news with Naracoorte basketballer Sophie Miles re-signing for the 2022 NBL1 South Season.

Miles joined the OneFortyOne Pioneers midway through the 2021 season after a stint playing for Forestville.

But in the space of a few months she made such an impact head coach Matt Sutton was keen to re-sign her.

Sutton said after becoming part of the Pioneers roster earlier this year, Miles made an immediate impact on training sessions with her tough and fearless nature attacking the hoop.

“Sophie is a really great person to coach, no fuss, takes on feedback and works on her game,” he said.

“She is a great example for all our local aspiring basketballers.”

The Naracoorte Basketball Association has made a major contribution towards Miles’ development, with the youngster growing in the area before making regular trips to Adelaide to improve her game.

Miles has a bright future and hopes to continue her rise when the Pioneers start the 2022 NBL1 South campaign in April.
