Local soccer players took part in the first Football SA Development Carnival during the school holidays.
All of SA’s Football SA Development Centres came together to display their skills and what they have learned over the last 20 weeks in their home centres.
Mixed teams had an opportunity to play with and against like minded players to help develop and showcase their skills.
No scores were recorded and no cup up for grabs, as to further emphasise on enjoying yourself and playing with freedom and flair.
There were 17 boys and girls from the Limestone Coast region represented in the carnival in Under 11, 12, 13 and 14, with the aim to increase the number moving forward.

Football SA Limestone Coast Regional Development Officer Nathan Koopman said the carnivals were seen as talent identification events and an opportunity to create pathways to further programs at state level.
“I see this carnival as a huge success. Our players were positively exposed to a higher level of play and tactics as well as access to more than 20 experienced coaches at Football SA, staff who were more than willing to give feedback and help players,” he said.
“I also learnt a lot and met some really important people to helping me improve as a regional development coach.
“We will now go back to our centre and all work on what we have learnt and be ready to show our improvement next time.
“This carnival will be our premier player pathway moving forward for the Limestone Coast”.
