Youth Empowerment Sports Program Donation

The Mount Gambier City Council’s Junior Sports Assistance Fund has advised that the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes has provided a $3000 donation to the Youth Empowerment Sports Program for 2025.

Blue Lake Fun Run Committee chair Mark Praolini presented the donation from Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes to Mayor Lynette Martin and Junior Sports Assistance Fund Presiding Member Cr Josh Lynagh at the 2024 Blue Lake Fun Run.

“The club’s wish is to donate part of the proceeds from the event to assist junior sportspersons who may be restricted for a variety of reasons, with funding to enable them to participate in their chosen sport,” Cr Lynagh said.

“It was agreed with the Mount Gambier Lakes Rotary that the Junior Sports Fund Committee would provide the confidential administration process for the Youth Empowerment Sports Program to identify worthy recipients from our member organisations who could receive financial assistance.”

The Youth Empowerment Sports program provides assistance to juniors who have a desire to participate in their chosen sport, but may be restricted in achieving their goals.

At its December meeting the Junior Sports Assistance Fund considered applications to utilise the remaining funds from the 2024 funding round.

Grant funds will be provided to:

  • Basketball Mount Gambier $600 (two grants of $300)
  • Mount Gambier and District Pony Club $600 (two grants of $300)

The Junior Sports Assistance Fund and the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes look forward to running a successful program in 2025.
