Shadow Country Cabinet visit delayed

The SA Labor Party’s Shadow Country Cabinet visit to Mount Gambier has been pushed back two weeks.

South Australian Labor Leader Peter Malinauskas and his entire Shadow Cabinet were scheduled to visit Mount Gambier this weekend, however it will now take place on October 31 and November 1.

Shadow Ministers will be making various visits to local organisations, community groups and businesses across the Limestone Coast over the course of the two-day visit.

During the visit, the Shadow Cabinet will hold a Town Hall-style community meeting to provide an opportunity for the community to have access to all Shadow Ministers who will answer questions from the audience.

“I have been on many visits to the Limestone Coast since becoming Opposition Leader and I’m looking forward to bringing my entire Shadow Cabinet to town for the second time,” Mr Malinauskas said.

“The Limestone Coast is an important contributor to South Australia, not just in the supply of jobs and economic growth – but it has so much to offer as a region.

“I’m firmly of the view that political leaders from Adelaide have consistently failed to understand the opportunity that exists for our state in Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast. It is time that State Governments have policy to reflect this.”

Labor candidate for Mount Gambier Katherine Davies echoed Mr Malinauskas’s sentiments.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming Peter and the Shadow Cabinet to our beautiful region,” she said.

“Since becoming the local Labor candidate, I have been out hearing stories from our community, locals have raised a variety of issues and concerns – which they will now have the chance to raise directly with the Shadow ministry.

“I encourage locals to come along and join in the community meeting.”

The public meeting will be held at the Mount Gambier City Hall, Watson Terrace (entry via Cave Garden), on Sunday, October 31, from 5:30pm to 7pm.

This will be the second time in the past 14 months the entire Labor Shadow Cabinet will be in Mount Gambier meeting with the local community.
