The Limestone Coast will celebrate International Women’s Day with Women in Business & Regional Development (WiBRD) hosting its annual breakfast at the Mount Gambier City Hall and Gather on Gordon tomorrow, with a live stream from the Adelaide event.
The Adelaide breakfast is the largest event celebrating International Women’s Day in Australia and the biggest annual women’s event on the Adelaide calendar.
The occasion will be hosted by the Honourable Senator Penny Wong with guest speaker Grace Tame.
Ms Tame is an outspoken advocate for survivors of sexual assault, particularly those who were abused in institutional settings.
WiBRD events committee and board member Cathy Beckman said International Women’s Day brought like-minded women together, celebrating and acknowledging achievements in work and life no matter how big or small they were.
“For us, locally it gives our community a chance to celebrate the day together and to link up with like-minded women in the city to share in those celebrations,” she said.
“We are bringing this opportunity to our local community they otherwise would not have.
“We welcome everyone along to the event, you do not have to own a business, it is just an inspiring morning for all ladies to enjoy.
“Every year we have a chosen guest speaker that talks about a specific topic relating to women’s issues that people may have been affected with.”
In Mount Gambier the guest speaker will be founder and owner of Little Birdie Jenna Douglas who will be talking about connecting within and reigniting female’s inner power and light.
Joe Hodges from the Nourish Nook will host the morning while Naome Burden will emcee in Naracoorte.
