Blue Lake Y Swim Club youngster Darcy Hodges has been selected into the School Sport SA 12 Years and Under SA State Swimming team.
At the young age of 10, Hodges has made the team which is chosen from performances from various swim meets during the summer season, including SA Country Championships and SAPSASA.
At the SA Country Championships in January this year, Hodges competed in the 10-11 year old age group where she impressed with many impressive personal best times.
She competed in six events, swimming in an impressive total of four finals.
Due to her young age, Hodges may not have been awarded medals, but she was the fastest 10-year-old in five of her events.
Her smashing season finished in May, where she competed at SAPSASA at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Hodges competed in three events, winning gold in both the 11 year old 50m Breaststroke and 11 year old 50m Butterfly, while she collected bronze in the 12 and Under 100m Freestyle.
After such a grand season, she will travel to Queensland to compete in the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre in August.
Hodges has been chosen to compete in four events, as well as relays.
She will be swimming in the 11 year old 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke individual events.
It will be a massive opportunity for Hodges as her swimming career continues to rise.
