Rhook shoots to narrow lead

The South East Field and Game Association held its monthly sporting clays shoot at Burrungule Park recently.

A total of 65 competitors nominated for the Life members memorial handicap shoot to tackle the 75 targets set by Ken Atkin and his hard working crew.

Ron Rhook won the Gambier Shooting Supplies High Gun after a countback with Jeremy Kent with both having shot 71/75.

Ben Verbena claimed the Garry Clifford Memorial Trophy by taking out the handicap High Gun.

It was a competitive fight for AA Grade with only four targets separating the top six.

At the top of the list was Declan Wright, who shot clear with a score of 78/75.

Dougal Simson was the next best leading home the chasing pack with Tim Widdison rounding out the podium.

Allan Cowan could not be stopped from winning A Grade.

His score of 79/75 was too much for Wayne Evans and Andrew Hoare to reign in.

The best in B Grade was Bruce Oakley with a score of 83/75.

He was two targets ahead of Rolf Bugden, who was another two ahead of Herb Whitehead.

Ben Mcrostie was the runaway winner in C Grade being five targets ahead of Kain Ashnby and Scott Fleming, who won a tight fight for the podium.

Sponsors for the event were South East Marine, Spot On Fishing and Tackle and E and L Scheidl.
