Juniors manage to hit court despite weather

With quite a few of the Lucindale Koalas competing at the Penola Show, the Naracoorte Red match against the Koalas was moved to Wednesday afternoon.

It’s great to see the flexibility of team mangers to ensure the junior tennis is played.

Georgie Midwinter and Ella Andrews had a great game with Darcy Clarke and Rylan Maywald winning 6-4.

Thomas Malone and Vander Maywald played a cracking match which went Thomas’ way in the tie-breaker.

The win was sealed for Lucindale Koalas with the last match tie-break between Darcy Clarke and Georgie Midwinter, which went Darcy’s way.

The Koalas took the win 44-31.

Naracoorte experienced four seasons on Saturday morning when White took on Naracoorte/Padthaway Yellow.

Despite the wind and rain there were some great matches and excellent sportsmanship.

Max Lush and Ned Ward had a good hit and Henry Orton and Mia McCarthy played well in the top spot.

Henry scored the only win for the day for N/P Yellow.

The overall score was not reflective of the quality of the matches with many of the doubles games very close.

Naracoorte White won the day 43-11.

In showery conditions at Millicent the Lucindale Roos had a good win over Millicent 48 games to 6.

Paige Pinchbeck and Harry Robinson played in some great rallies against Axel Joyce and Sam Long to win 6-3 in what was the match of the day.

It was great to see some up and coming juniors out there enjoying their tennis.

Naracoorte/Padthaway Blue headed down to Kingston, and while the win was convincing for Kingston the scores did not always reflect the great rallies being played.

There were some new faces and congratulations to Jed and Chloe for playing their first junior game.

Anna Rasheed and Anna Orton had a great tussle with the win going the way of Rasheed 6-4.

Kingston took the win 38-21.

Next Saturday Lucindale will host Millicent and Kingston for their first matches on the road while the Naracoorte/Padthaway teams will host Naracoorte Red and White at Naracoorte.

Matches start at 9am so if you are looking to see some enthusiastic young junior enjoying their tennis make your way out to these venues.
