Deputy Mayor Lisa Ruffell has been elected uncontested to the Mayoral position for the Robe District Council.
Hers was the sole nomination submitted to the Electoral Commission of South Australia by the deadline of noon on Friday.
Ms Ruffell is a business operator and first-term councillor at the seaside but is also a former Mayor of the Greater Bendigo City Council.
She has been at the helm of Robe council since she was elected Deputy Mayor after the elections in November.
“We would like to congratulate Lisa on behalf of the community and wish her all the best over the next four years,” said a Robe Council spokesperson.
“Please be aware the councillor position formerly filled by Lisa will be filled through a re-count of the general election votes.
“This will conclude the election process for 2022.”
A similar set of circumstances has occurred at the Kingston District Council where Acting Mayor/Deputy Mayor and experienced councillor Jeff Pope has been elevated unopposed to the Mayoralty.
The two councils had been without a Mayor last November after Kingston’s Fiona Rasheed and Robe’s Alison Nunan had both declined to seek a second term in office.
