Cool competition served

As the cool change swept the region over the weekend, Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association players took to the courts with just a handful of rounds left in the season ahead of finals.

There were mixed results in Division 2, with plenty of players putting it all on the line in preparation for the pointy end of the season.

Mount Gambier recorded a convincing win over Reidy Park, claiming the victory 11-0 (69-22 games), while West Gambier also had a solid win over Suttontown 9-3 (69-39 games).

The doubles match–up between West’s Mark Stutley and Matthew Charlton against Suttontown’s Tom Inglis and Cory Sharam featured plenty of lengthy rallies.

Mount Gambier currently sits on top of the ladder with a healthy two-game buffer, with West Gambier and Glencoe rounding out the top three, followed by Mil Lel, Suttontown and Reidy Park.

In the A Boys, Uniting/Mil Lel had a bye while Mount Gambier faced Reidy Park, Mount Schank took on Mil Lel/Glencoe and Glencoe played West.

Mount Gambier only just scraped a win against Reidy Park with the scoreline 3-3 (30-26 games).

Mount Schank also just managed a win over Mil Lel/Glencoe where the team achieved a 4-2 (26-20 games) result and West Gambier defeated Glencoe 4-2 (28-26 games).

Mount Gambier, Uniting/Mil Lel and West Gambier hold the top three positions on the ladder, followed by Mil Lel/Glencoe, Reidy, Glencoe and Mount Schank.
