South Australia has produced its best employment figures in history.
There are now 40,000 more South Australians in work than at the time of the state election in March 2022 – 35,000 of these are full time.
South Australia’s unemployment rate is now the lowest on record, and lower than in Queensland and Tasmania.
Australian Bureau of Statistics Labour Force data for March 2023 shows:
A record 948,600 South Australians are in work – 11,600 more people than the previous month.
632,100 of these are working full-time (another record) – up by 15,800 from the previous month.
South Australia’s unemployment rate has dropped to 3.7% – the lowest since monthly records began.
The state’s participation rate is 64.5% – the highest on record.
Nationally, the unemployment rate sits at 3.5%.
