Gym planning permission ‘parked’

Planning permission has been withheld for a new commercial gymnasium in an existing building in Mount Gambier.

The Limestone Coast Southern Regional Assessment Panel requested clarification and confirmation in March as to how the gym facility was to be operated including confirmation of the maximum number of people to be using the facility at any one time.

Furthermore, the panel wanted to know the maximum number of people to be using each space including the two studio rooms, the main gymnasium area and the mezzanine floor.

A further planning requirement was a schedule identifying when each area was available for use and the times and duration of gym classes.

This information was supplied to the panel which then deemed at its April 18 meeting in Mount Gambier there was insufficient parking for gymnasium clients and staff and the cul de sac location could not accommodate the anticipated additional vehicular traffic.
