Round 8 of the Kowree Naracoorte Tataiara Football League saw a new team take over the top spot by the time the round had ended.
Despite Kybybolite winning again, Mundulla had a massive percentage-boosting victory that saw the side jump to the top spot on the ladder.
Mundulla headed into their game against Naracoorte as red-hot favourites and it played out like that during the game. The Tigers had a big first half by kicking 12 goals and holding the Demons goalless to set up a match-winning lead in the contest. Mundulla continued the onslaught in the second half by adding an extra 17 goals to Naracoorte’s four to end up winning by 157 points.
Jake McGrice celebrated his return to the Tigers lineup by slotting through eight goals.
Jack Guy with seven goals and Billy Wiese kicked six to show the scoring power the Tigers have.
Jake McGrice, Nick Mosey and Billy Wiese were the Tigers’ best players.
Naracoorte only had single-goal kickers in Ralph Palma, Aaron Slorach, George White and Matt Willson.
Naracoorte’s best players were Joshua Koennecke, George Pretlove and Nicholas Lacey.
Kybybolite overcame a slow start to record a strong victory over Border Districts by 48 points. The Eagles jumped the Tigers in the first quarter by scoring four goals to nil to set up a quarter-time lead of 25 points. The Tigers recovered in the next three quarters to score 12-14 to 2-1 in a dominant display. The Tigers are firing right now and with this victory, they stretched their winning streak to six games.
Stephen Craig led the scoring list with four goals and was helped out by William Shepherd who put through three goals of his own.
Sean Munn, James Bittner and Jack Trengove were the Tigers’ best players.
Mark Quinn played a lone hand in front of the goals for Border Districts with three goals.
Dylan Auciello, Chase Bower and Mark Quinn were the Eagles’ best players.
Bordertown proved too strong for Kingston as they recorded a strong 40-point victory. The Roosters led from start to finish to open up a two-win gap to fifth spot on the ladder. Jacob Eats was strong all game in front of the goals with four majors for the day. Harrison Jolly and Thomas Whittlesea helped get the Roosters across the line with two goals apiece.
Carson Clark, Harrison Jolly and Joshua Searle were Bordertown’s best players.
Kingston could not find a consistent goal scorer all game as their five goals were all singles.
Jack Harding, Todd Lockwood, Josh Troeth, Luke Watson and Campbell Watts were able to get their names on the Saints’ score sheet during the game.
Ben Rogers, Sam Robertson and Thomas Rogers were Kingston’s best players.
Keith continued their strong season with a professional victory against Penola on Saturday. The Crows blew the game open in the second quarter and never looked back to notch up a 75-point victory. Alex Schiller shone in the scorers’ list with five goals in the victory.
Riley Wilsdon and George Johnson were also strong in front of the big sticks with seven goals between them.
Daniel Bibby, Aaron Young and Riley Wilsdon were the Crows’ best players.
Justin Mansell was the only Penola player able to put through multiple goals with two.
Bradley Bryant, Jordan Galpin and Beau Shinnick were the Eagles’ best players.
Padthaway caused an upset when they proved to be too strong for Lucindale by 24 points. The Lions put in a big effort after half time as they caught the Roos napping and were able to come away with an impressive victory.
Danny Juckers kicked four goals and Brad Ficken kicked three goals as they led the scoring charge in the victory.
James Alexander, Willo Brown and Nathan McCarthy were Padthaway’s best players.
Josh Trembath put in a great effort in the loss with seven goals for Lucindale.
Riley Mcfarlane, Josh Trembath and Bradley Agnew were Lucindale’s best players.
Round 9 this week and it will be a pivotal round for some teams as they look to stay in the finals race.
Border Districts hosts Bordertown in a fourth versus fifth matchup.
The Roosters have been playing some great football lately and will start favourites in this contest.
The Eagles really crumbled after quarter time against Kybybolite and will be hoping the same thing does not happen two games in a row.
The Roosters look a bit too strong for the Eagles on paper and will be favourites.

The Roos had a costly slip-up against Padthaway in their quest to make the finals this year and need a bounce-back performance of four quarters of solid football.

Mundulla plays Padthaway and the Tigers will be confident of keeping their form going against the Lions.

The Lions are only a win outside the top five and will need to be at their best to topple the Mundulla Tigers.
