Anglicans come together

The governing body of the Anglican Church in Southern SA held its annual meeting in Mount Gambier over the weekend.

Members of the public were welcome to observe the proceedings of the Synod of the Diocese of The Murray at the Christ Church Hall on Bay Road.

The diocese covers the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, Southern suburbs of Adelaide, Riverland, Mallee and South East and 70 delegates were present.

Running from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, it was chaired by Archdeacon Simon Waters.

There were worship services, formal business sessions, guest speakers, small group workshops and a Saturday night meal at Metro Café and Bakery.

Other hospitality arrangements were in the hands of a small group of Mount Gambier parishioners.

The elected representatives from the SE parishes in attendance included Michael Bleby, Dean Burrow, Jill Fiebiger, Louis Leake, “Fred” Smith and Graeme Skene (Millicent/Penola), The Venerable Neil Fernando, Trevor Christopher, Sandy Coulson, Rick Fisher and Richard Mills (Mount Gambier) and Catherine Biggins, Cathy Cobbledick and Paul Dolan, (Naracoorte).
