Kybybolite has taken control of their top spot chase after defeating Mundulla in a top of the table clash that was the highlight of round 11 of the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League.
In a battle of the Tigers and a possible preview of the grand final, the game lived up to the hype across the four quarters.
Kybybolite got out to a two-goal lead by quarter time and led by 16 points by halftime.
Mundulla rued their poor accuracy in front of the goals as they managed 0-8 in the second quarter and had scored 2-11 in the first half until the half time break.
Mundulla got their act together in the third quarter and kicked 3-3 to 0-2 to take a slim lead into the final quarter.
Kybybolite regrouped and at home, they had a strong last quarter to hold off Mundulla and gain a big win by five points.
Stephen Craig was huge in the victory with five goals.
Kybybolite’s best players were Andrew Bradley, Jared Deep and Tom Curnow.
Mundulla’s leading goal scorers were Billy Wiese and William Nankivell who put through two goals each.
Mundulla’s best players were Elliot Jaeschke, Jacob Grosser and Reagan Tink.
Keith took control of third place on the ladder after the Crows had a convincing 38-point victory against Border Districts.
Scores were tight in the first quarter before the Crows were able to gradually pull away over the following three quarters to get the victory and set themselves up for a strong run at the double chance.
Crows coach Lewis Hender had a big day in front of the goals by kicking six goals.
Riley Wilsdon put through four goals of his own in the victory.
The best players in the victory for the Crows were Jack McAuley, Seb Schreiber and Riley Wilsdon.
Border Districts were served well in front of the goals by Mackenzie Bower who kicked four majors.
Joshua Richards kicked two goals as well for the Eagles.
The best for the Eagles were Zac Richards, Sam Pridham and Carl Hausler.
Bordertown got their season back on track after they had a commanding 82-point victory against Lucindale.
The Roosters had lost three of their past four games coming into the contest and were keen to find the form that saw them string five victories in a row earlier in the season.
Jacob Eats continued his big season with another bag of seven goals for the Roosters.
Jaidan Kappler returned from holidays to put through four goals in the victory as well.
Billy Hayes, Jacob Eats, Lachlan Murch and Carson Clark were the Roosters’ best players.
Lucindale recorded all single goal kickers in the game as Bradley Agnew, Matt Gould, Daniel McCarthy, Riley McFarlane, Riley Milne, Alexander Pitt and Travis Ware were added to the scorers’ list throughout the
game.
The best players for the Roos were Bradley Agnew, Jack Davidson and Tom Logan.
Penola had a strong victory over Naracoorte by 54 points.
The Eagles had the lead at every change and put in a strong four-quarter performance.
Eagles players Brodie Foster and Scott Merrett kicked three goals each in the victory.
Bradley Bryant, Beau Shinnick and Jordan Galpin were great players in the victory for Penola.
Aaron Slorach led the scoring for the Demons with three goals.
Brodie Pratter helped in front of the big sticks with two goals.
The Demons’ best players were Tommy Anderson, Matthew Maney and Kai Schmid.
Kingston got back onto the winner’s list after they came from behind to defeat Padthaway.
The scores were close at half time before Padthaway worked hard to open up a 13-point lead by three quarter time.
Kingston found some form in the fourth quarter as they kicked 5-3 to Padthaway’s 0-2 to get on top and run away with the victory.
Kingston had a good spread of goal scorers in the victory as Jack Harding, Ethan Murdock, Ben Warner and William Watts kicked two goals each.
Kingston’s best players were William Watts, Campbell Watts, Ben Rogers and Ben Warner.
Padthaway fought hard all game and had some solid contributors in front of the goals as Brad Ficken kicked three goals.
Blake Harris and Jordan Hooper kicked two goals each for the Lions during the afternoon.
The Lions’ best players were Wyatt Fraser, Tom Moyle-Read and Blake Harris.
There are no games this weekend due to the Country Championships weekend being played.
The next round in the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara takes place on July 20.
