Eagles line up with something to prove

The Eagles came out eager for the win against Naracoorte on Saturday the KNT netball action and they did not disappoint.

The first quarter was neck and neck with Naracoorte up at the quarter time break.

In the second quarter Penola was able to apply some effective defence and get hands on some rebounds while their attack line settled into some swift transitions.

The Eagles were up at the half time break and put their foot down going into the third quarter.

With accurate shooting from the Penola goalies and turnovers across the court they were able to continue with momentum, however, Naracoorte did not stop with their tight defensive pressure and made the Eagles work hard for some of their ball.

As Penola went into the final quarter the Eagles proved they were there for the win as they finished accurately and continued to apply their full court defensive pressure that allowed them to take the game with a nine goal margin, 60-51.

The Eagles’ best players were Tegan Lythgo and Gorgia Robbie.

It was top of the ladder versus second in the A Reserve this week and Penola was very keen to secure top spot.

In order to do so, they went out firing in the first quarter to take a huge lead of 12 into the quarter time break.

Changes to the Naracoorte line up created a more even second quarter.

Karly Honner shot accurately in GA, while Jade Lythgo provided turn over ball all day.

Despite being scrappy at times Penola maintained their strong lead all game, eventually winning by 16, 61-45

Karly Honner and Jade Lythgo were named best on court for the Eagles.
