Professional support available

Encouraging a person to take action, such as seeking support from mental health professionals is one of the steps being promoted through R U OK? Day.

The Medical Clinic Millicent provides a number of services to help connect to professional help.

Practice manager Bronwyn Barker said the clinic offers referrals to counselling, mental health care services and health assessments.

“Mental Health Care Plans are set up through a doctor first, providing the appropriate referral,” she said.

Ms Barker said the practice can accommodate if there is an urgent need for a patient to receive a mental health care plan.

“There are many services available locally and also many available via telehealth and telephone counselling,” she said.

“Your GP can refer you to the best service provider and service method for your requirements.

“We are proud that our medical, nursing and other health care providers strive to maintain a high level of continued professional development ensuring that all team members remain current and relevant in their profession.”
