Division 1
Uniting v West Gambier
In the second instalment of last year’s grand final rematch, West Gambier were able to get the edge over the previously undefeated Uniting, handing them their first loss of the season.
In the men’s draw Uniting started strong in the doubles with Andrew van den Hurk and Jace Maxwell facing West’s George White and Brady Cook in the top doubles.
The Uniting pair took home the victory fairly easily, winning the first set 6-1 then backing it up in the second 6-4.
In the bottom doubles it was a bit more competitive with Uniting’s Mat Stark and Kobe Cole taking the court against West’s Toby Stutley and Peyton Robinson.
Stark and Cole took the first set in a tough 7-5 battle which was followed by another tight set with Uniting winning 6-4.
It was even in the singles as the two teams claimed two sets.
In the top singles van den Hurk faced White, however van den Hurk finished his day on a high note, winning 6-0.
Cook took on Stark in a fierce battle in the number two singles.
The match went down to the wire with Cook coming out on top, winning in a tiebreaker.
Maxwell was able to pick up a good win, defeating Stutley 6-2.
In the bottom singles it was another close match as Cole took on Robinson.
Robinson was able to take revenge after his doubles defeat, downing Cole 7-5.
On the ladies side of the draw it was competitive in the doubles as West took two of the three sets.
In the top doubles, Uniting’s Tessa Megaw and Jade Delaney faced West’s Jess Stutley and Emily Jolley.
This match also went down to the wire as Megaw and Delaney took the win, beating the West duo 7-5.
In the next doubles Megaw and Vanessa Maxwell took the court against Stutley and Ella Jolley.
Stutley and Jolley were able to get a set on the board for West, winning 6-3.
The bottom doubles were also competitive as Delaney and Maxwell faced the Jolley sisters.
The Jolleys were able to claim another set for West, coming out on top 6-4.
In the singles Stutley and Megaw faced off with Stutley getting the top singles win, defeating Megaw 6-1.
In the next singles Delaney took on Jolley in another tight contest as Jolley got the slight edge over Delaney, winning 6-4.
In the bottom singles Maxwell and Jolley faced off with Jolley sealing the victory 6-1.
West Gambier defeated Uniting 7-5.
Reidy Park v Glencoe
Reidy Park got another solid win under their belt as they took on Glencoe at Olympic Park.
In the men’s doubles both teams picked up a win, splitting the two games.
In the top doubles Glencoe’s Dylan Childs and Patrick Mitchell continued their winning streak as they took on Reidy’s Zayne Young and Dane Heemskerk.
The Glencoe duo took home the win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The bottom doubles was a long match as Reidy’s Harry Ellis and Ben Gaffney faced Glencoe’s Will Maloney and Declan Hurley.
Ellis and Gaffney took the first set 6-2 but the Glencoe pair responded in the next set, tying it up with a 6-3 win.
In the super tie-breaker the Reidy pair finished strong as they sealed the set with a 10-7 win.
In the singles in Glencoe, the top men continued their dominance as Childs took on Young and picked up another set, winning 6-2.
In Mitchell and Heemskerk’s battle it was a tight one as Mitchell got the edge over Heemskerk, winning 7-5.
Reidy kept their momentum from the doubles in the bottom two singles as Ellis and Maloney had another marathon match, with Ellis claiming another set after winning in a tie-breaker.
In the bottom singles Gaffney finished strong as he got a 6-0 win to close out his day.
On the ladies side Reidy dominated in the doubles, picking up all three sets.
In the top doubles Reidy’s Maggie Collins and Sarah Brown faced Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Giaan Ferguson.
Collins and Brown won the set with ease in a 6-0 victory.
The middle double was a bit more of an arm wrestle as the mother and daughter combination of Rosie and Maggie Collins faced Edwards and Shae Delaney.
The match went down to the wire as Reidy secured another set in a tie-breaker.
The bottom doubles were similar to the top as Brown and Collins took the 6-0 win over Ferguson and Delaney.
Reidy kept on rolling in the singles as Collins managed a solid victory over Edwards, winning 6-1.
Brown finished her day undefeated as she took the win over Ferguson 6-1.
The bottom singles were a bit more competitive as Collins got the job done over Delaney, winning 6-3.
Reidy Park defeated Glencoe 9-3.
Division 2
In Division 2 on Saturday there were competitive matches in both battles as Mount Gambier claimed the win over Suttontown/Glencoe in the top of the table clash, finishing up 7-5.
West Gambier Blue won the bragging rights over West Gambier Red as West Blue won 8-4.
Division 3
In Division 3 Uniting took the victory over Centrals/Mount Schank, winning 7-5 while Mount Gambier edged out a close one against Mil Lel, winning on games 55-51.
Ladies Doubles
In the ladies doubles there were not many matches played as West Gambier and Mount Schank were the only sides to take the court, with West winning 6-0 while Mil Lel Green and Mil Lel White forfeited with Mil Lel White getting the points.
The match between Reidy Park and Glencoe was another forfeit, with Reidy taking the points.
Mixed Doubles
In mixed doubles Suttontown claimed the victory over Mount Gambier Blue, winning 6-0 while Glencoe took the win over Moorak Grey 5-1.
Mount Schank had a close victory over Moorak Green, winning on games 28-24.
Uniting/Glencoe recorded a solid win over Mount Gambier Green, sealing the deal with a 4-2 victory.
