Round four of the Mount Gambier and Districts Tennis Association delivered some excellent tennis action in the best weather so far this season.
In Division 1 action Reidy Park took on Uniting at Olympic Park, with Reidy Park suffering its first defeat of the 2023/24 season.
Uniting took out the first singles match with Andrew Vandenhurk cruising past Zayne Young for a 6-1 victory.
Cade Kelly fought back for Reidy Park with a well-earned 6-2 win over Kobe Cole in their singles match.
Reidy Park claimed the next match, before Uniting got on a role to claim the next eight.
Pir Khurram Shahid secured a comfortable victory over Ty Lang and Ashlea Dunn held on against a fighting Bailey Young for a 6-4 win.
Alison Telford and Vanessa Maxwell had no problems winning their singles matches against Maggie Collins and Madison Kelly to give Uniting a 5-2 lead going into the doubles matches.
Young and Kelly gave their all against a strong partnership between Vandenhurk and Cole, but Uniting did enough to claim the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 8-10 victory.
The matches were a lot less close from there with Maxwell’s and Shahid’s serving game proving too strong to claim a 6-4, 6-1 win.
The next two doubles matches were comfortable wins for Uniting to confirm it would be taking the points from the match.
In the final doubles Reidy Park scored a consolation win with Collins and Kelly proving too strong a partnership for Maxwell and Telford, winning 6-4.
Over at Malseed Park Mount Schank was handed another big loss going down 12-0 against West Gambier.
West Gambier was completely dominant over its opponent from the outset with George White not dropping a game against Will Boston, before Brendan McInnes notched up the single game in his singles.
Toby Stutley was exceptional on all areas of the court to beat Jack Meyer 6-0, while Jessica Stutley had little issue beating Abbey Hood 6-1.
Sisters Emily and Ella Jolley both won their singles matches to give West Gambier a clean sweep in the singles.
The doubles offered up more of the same as West Gambier faced little resistance.
Boston and McInnes pushed their opponents in the opening doubles, losing the first set on a tie breaker, but the second set offered the same competitiveness with Mount Schank going down 7-6, 6-1.
Mount Schank did not win more than two games in the final four matches with West Gambier not letting up at all.
Emily and Ella Jolley sealed the result 12-0 in favour of West Gambier with a win over Sophie Burt and Lucy Savage.
All up Mount Schank only claimed 18 games compared to West Gambier’s 85 in a very one sided affair.
Glencoe Tennis Club hosted a much closer match up with Mount Gambier Tennis Club sneaking past Glencoe for a 7-5 win.
Mat Stark got Mount Gambier off on the right foot with a 6-3 win over Tim Biggins, James Braun showed some fight for Glencoe but Will Cameron proved too good taking the match for Mount Gambier in a tie breaker.
William Le Cornu then made it 3-0 in Mount Gambier’s favour with an excellent performance against Will Hann.
Hamish Gordon pulled a match back in Glencoe’s favour, but Alita Huyser extended the advantage back out to three with a 6-3 win over Sarah Edwards.
An all round performance from Jorja Mitchell saw her win 6-0 and give Glencoe some hope, before Mount Gambier’s Shae Delany then won 6-4.
Stark and Cameron won the first doubles for Mount Gambier – 6-2, 7-5 over Biggins and Braun.
Gordon and Hann offered some resistance but Le Cornu and Hancock held on 6-2, 6-4.
The result was sealed, but Glencoe continued to battle it out, winning the final three matches.
This sealed the results at 7-5 with Mount Gambier Tennis Club taking the points.
In Division 2 Mount Gambier/Mount Schank went down to Suttontown/Glencoe 4-8.
Sam Auld and Craig Beck got Suttontown/Glencoe off to an excellent start both winning their singles 6-0.
Lachlan Patzel won a match back for Mount Gambier/Mount Schank before Suttontown/Glencoe won another two matches back to back.
The final singles match went in favour of Mount Gambier/Mount Schank and Blake Telford and Edward Kutny won the first doubles match for Mount Gambier/Mount Schank.
Suttontown/Glencoe and Mount Gambier/Mount Schank both took a win from the next two doubles.
Then Suttontown/Glencoe wrapped up the result winning the final three doubles to finish the match 8-4, sending Suttontown/Glencoe to second on the ladder.
West Gambier started off on fire against Mil Lel/Reidy taking the first three matches, but Mil Lel/Reidy rallied to claim the next three.
Going into the doubles the match up was tied up at 3-3 after some excellent resistance from Mil Lel/Reidy.
The doubles were a similar situation with West Gambier winning the first three matches before a fight back from Mil Lel/Reidy to square it up.
West Gambier ended up with the points winning three more games than their opponents.
In Division 3 Moorak snuck past Glencoe on games, while at Corriedale Park Uniting/Glencoe took the points over a tough Mil Lel, winning 7-5.
Centrals fared similarly to Uniting/Glencoe in their match against Mount Gambier, winning the last four matches to claim a 7-5 win.
