Tens of thousands of people will flock to Lucindale this Friday and Saturday for the 44th annual South East Field Days.
The Lucindale Lions Club is roaring in anticipation for the two-day event, which is expected to see over 20,000 people walk through the gates at Yakka Park.
A variety of around 500 exhibitors will be in attendance including state championship working dogs, sheep, cattle and Brandt who will be returning to the event this year.
South East Field Days committee member Allison Levy said the 2024 event looks like it will be bigger than previous years.
“It looks like the weather is going to be fantastic so hopefully there will be a good turnout,” she said.
“For us, it is not just an agricultural event, we try and keep it a variety just to interest everyone.
“There are all the machinery and things but there is also the lifestyle stuff so wineries, distilleries and food through to the Lions Pavillion which has clothing and jewellery.”
There will be plenty of entertainment on offer including the Can Am Team “Addicted to Mud” stunts and demonstrations, Laser Tag, Rob’s Carriage Rides, TC Trickz Motorbike Stunt Show and the Balharry Memorial Children’s Centre Activity Tent.
There will be returning performances
by country music singer Angela Easson and the South Australian Police Jazz
Band, while Post and Rail owner Cindy
Bunt will entertain the crowd with three delicious cooking demonstrations each day in the Yakka Pavillion.
Last year’s inclusion of the Ag Tech Pavilion has grown, giving attendees more of the latest in agricultural technology and research with representatives from government agencies, milling, grain, engineering and livestock industries.
Soil Function Consulting’s Dr Melissa Fraser will speak in the Ag Tech Pavilion to school aged children about the Limestone Coast soil on Friday at 10.30am followed by current issues and opportunities for the region’s farmers at 2pm.
