Anzac spirit shines

After a morning of reflection on Anzac Day, two local sporting codes took their battles onto the ovals and courts.

The Limestone Coast Football Netball League continued tradition of North Gambier taking on South Gambier, while in the Barry Maney Premier League International took the pitch against Blue Lake.

South Gambier claiming the Anzac football honours with Mason Hein awarded the Tony Casadio Medal, while Tigers’ Lauran Norman was presented with the Shirley Underwood Medal for the winning side.

It was a tight tussle in the soccer, with Blue Lake taking the points over Inter 5-4 in the men’s and the Rangers also proving too strong for the black and blue in the women’s, winning 1-0.
