Arch rivals eye finals face off

All the focus of this Saturday afternoon be on the main diamond at Blue Lake Sports Park as arch rivals Tigers and South Indians take each other on.

The major prize for the winner is the last ticket to take on top of the ladder Centrals in the 2021/22 Mount Gambier and District Baseball League Grand Final.

There will be no doubt this game will be another chapter to one of the biggest rivalries in local sport.

Tigers certainly have the pitching power and batting power if they are ready to go and should prove a headache for South coach Travis Lockwood.

Meanwhile South can do damage in a big way with the bat, led by the usual suspects Bruce Morale and Dean Hamilton.

Tigers have proved to be an up and down team in season 2022 and coming into this final have won just one of the past four games.

But South on the other hand has won three of the last four and winning form is good form.

Tigers will be fronted by Garth Ransom.

The reigning league best and fairest was a stand out with the bat in 2022 and will certainly be the guy that shapes this match with his power hitting and run scoring shots.

Hayden Jones is a bloke that possesses super speed and a strong arm is key in the top of the lineup for Tigers with his on base smarts and ability infield to cover a large range.

Jones certainly will do anything in his power to help Tigers get over the line, as will Alex Reppin.

The biggest story of 2022 so far was Reppin signing with Tigers and he will shape as a key on the mound.

His arm is one of the best in terms of speed and pitching ability in the competition and he will need every bit of his skillset to get over South.

South is fronted by veteran Hamilton, who can pitch and has proved over many years he can do the job.

Hamilton will be the man that shapes the Indians with the bat, if he fires Tigers will need a plan to stop him.

Jesse Balshaw is a young bloke that has taken big steps in 2022 behind the plate and looks as comfortable as ever producing consistent results.

Is this the last time we see Bruce Morale in a South uniform?

The South champion has had a stella career and would love just one more chance at a premiership.

He will bring the two-punch combo with both bat and ball in hand and no doubt will be running hot as he tries to shape this match.

The game is scheduled to start at 4pm Saturday on diamond one and will be the hottest ticket in town.
