Athletes sprint to finish

The final meeting of the 2022/23 Mount Gambier Little Athletics season was held in perfect conditions.

The fire event for the night was the tiny tots coached by Sally Taylor.

The tiny tots enjoyed a range of activities including jumping, throwing and running events.

All tiny tots have tried their best all season and all achieved personal improvements.

High jump was on the agenda for the Under 9 females.

Chloe Bickley, Ellie Perry, Bree Patzel and Jenny Ellison all completed personal best jumps to finish off the season.

In the 100 metre sprint Ellie Perry was impressive, just edging out Chloe Bickley.

All girls impressed in the shot put achieving personal bests in the event.

Zahli Golebiowski, Bree Patzel and Jenny Ellison both completed the 200 metre run in personal best times.

There were great results in the Under 9 boys on Friday night.

All boys jumped their way to personal best jumps in the high jump.

Chester McEachern ran a quick 100 metre sprint in a time of 18.11 seconds, just finishing in front of Dominic Albanese.

Jack McKenzie and Archie Cook had a great run in the 200 metre race.

Both boys finished the season in personal best times.

Jack and Archie kept their good form going into the shot put with both picking up PB’s.

In the Under 10 females Mackenna Povey, Alxys Cutting and Stella Perry started the night well all throwing personal bests in the discus.

Alyxs also picked up a personal best in the long jump.

Isla Stuckey improved each week with her sprints and had great runs in the 100m and 200 metre race.

The Under 11 females finished the season off with the 100 metre, 200 metre, shot put, long jump and 1500 metre distance race.

It was a very tight race in the 100 metre sprint.

Jaqulyn Cutting with a 19.20 finished just in front of Amelia Cameron, Neesanook Sayad and Ruby Cook.

Jaqulyn also finished strong in the 200 metre in a time of 41.65 seconds.

All girls had successful jumps in the long jump, with Amelia Cameron claiming this event on Friday night.
