Bayside bowls under way

The Port MacDonnell Bowls Club held it’s season opening day on Sunday in wet and windy conditions.

Newly elected president Terry Seiler opened the day with Shirley Taylor placing the mat down, Victor Perryman rolling the kitty and Richard Sage putting the first bowl down.

Bowls were played after the opening, but weather meant it was a shortened game.

Eventually Nick Niglene and Wayne Dowdell were crowned as the winners.

Come and try bowls is on this Sunday at 10am which will follow morning tea at 9.30am and all are welcome to bring a friend.

Pennant practice will be held on the Saturday, October 1 at 12.30pm, while Thursday October, 6 will feature an Open Men’s Fours at 9.30am and is catered for.

The opening day also included the announcement of the Port MacDonnell Bowls Club’s board of management.

Leading the way is president Seiler and he is supported by the respective men’s and women’s vice presidents Tim Wrightson and Sharon Perryman.

The secretary is Heather Richards, while the treasurer will be Nallia Lucas and the director of greens will be Chris Richards.

The committee also includes Jennie Tilley, Robert Hutchesson, Lyn Vanderley, Joe Pruis, Jennie and Ben Tilley as members for another big season of bowls.
