Big award for small business

Big award for small business

Local builder Argent Constructions took home the Housing Industry Association (HIA) award for South Australia’s Best Country Home 2021 on Saturday night.

The award was presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre with over 600 people in attendance.

Lee Argent said it was very exciting to win the award because he was not anticipating it.

The award-winning home was built by Lee Argent, Tim Argent and young apprentice Adam Walker.

Mr Argent said it was a dream home built for retired farmer Rob and his wife Sandy, which included lots of custom timber work, custom stone work and custom tiling with large windows out the front and back.

“It was a pleasure to build,” he said.

Argent Constructions was founded in 1975 by Mr Argent’s father Darrel and has remained a family-run business, with Lee and his brother Tim taking over the business when Darrel retired.

Mr Argent said his mother and father, who also attended the evening, were very excited about the award and a good night was had by all.

“They were very chuffed, very proud,” he said.

“We’re only a tiny little business, so it means a lot, you get recognised by the industry that you’re in.”
