Birthday milestone

Millicent’s oldest war veteran Lena Huntington recently had a VIP caller to her home at Boneham Aged Care Services.

Member for MacKillop Nick McBride made a point of calling on Ms Huntington on the eve of her 102nd birthday.

Born in Lancashire, England, on December 26, 1919, Ms Huntington joined the Australian Army during World War II in 1942 and rose to the rank of sergeant.

After the cessation of hostilities, she was discharged late in 1945.

Millicent has three other known World War II veterans with the youngest being 94. All four are residents of Boneham Aged Care Services.
